Took a morning walking tour with a National Park Ranger discussing the Yukon Gold Rush of 1898. Hard life for many 100,000 who sought riches and started their journey in Skagway. Interesting tidbit is that each gold “stampeder” was required to have 2,000 pounds of supplies before the Canadian Mounties allowed them to continue to the Yukon. Unfortunately this created “dead horse pass” due to severely overloaded animals.
